Representative RFQ Example

What a Complete Tantalum RFQ Looks Like

A European customer requested one prototype round bar in R05252 Ta-2.5W with a material certificate and a defined quotation lead time. The inquiry was reviewed by separating grade, tungsten content, dimensions, quantity, documentation and schedule instead of treating it as a generic bar request.

This is an anonymized real inquiry shown to illustrate quotation inputs. It is not presented as a completed delivery.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Answers written around the information purchasing and engineering teams need before RFQ.

What is the difference between R05200 and R05400?

Both are UNS designations for unalloyed tantalum, but their manufacturing routes and purchasing requirements differ. State the applicable material standard, condition and product form in your inquiry.

What tolerances can you achieve on tantalum parts?

Tolerance capability depends on part size, wall thickness, geometry, datums and inspection method. Mark the critical dimensions on your drawing so each feature can be evaluated.

Can you manufacture one prototype?

One-piece and small-batch requirements can be evaluated. Prototype pricing considers material minimums, setup, machining, inspection and documentation.

What quality documents can you provide?

Material certificates, dimensional inspection reports and other agreed inspection records can be supplied when specified in the order.

What information is required for a quotation?

Provide a PDF drawing and STEP model together with material grade, quantity, service conditions, critical tolerances, surface requirements and required inspection documents.
